Kate and Ben dreamed of an intimate elopement — just the two of them and their children by their side. When a friend introduced them to the wild beauty of the Isle of Arran, they instantly felt a connection. It was clear this magical island was the perfect place to begin their next chapter together.

This was such a special day to be part of, and I felt truly honoured when Kate and Ben asked me to be their witness. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know how much I love an Arran wedding — I’ll always jump at the chance to return to this beautiful island.
I met up with Kate and her daughter at The Glenisle, where they were staying, and we enjoyed a short sunny walk to the Lamlash registry office to meet the boys.
The ceremony itself was wonderfully intimate, made even more meaningful as their son Joe presented the rings.
Afterwards, we crossed the road and scrambled down onto the beach for some relaxed family time — searching for crabs and shells, with the kids exploring while Kate and Ben had a quiet moment to breathe in the salty sea air and take in the breathtaking views of the Holy Isle.

Arran is often called “Scotland in miniature” — and for good reason. It offers an incredible variety of landscapes. From stunning beaches to peaceful glens and rugged mountains, everything is within easy reach. Because of this, Arran is the perfect place for an elopement.
After the ceremony, we hopped in our cars and drove a little further north. We were headed to the tiny village of Sannox — one of my all-time favourite spots on the island.
Just a short walk into Glen Sannox brings you to sweeping views and the striking peak of Cir Mhor. It’s a dramatic and unforgettable backdrop. The trail is gentle enough for little ones and makes for a lovely, relaxed wander. Since it was such a sunny day, we took shelter in the cool shade of the trees. If you continue a bit further, you’ll find stepping stones and clear rock pools — a lovely spot to pause and explore.
